ED KRETZ SR, ON HIS INDIAN SCOUT IN FRONT OF HIS HOUSE 3-22-77. THIS IS THE SAME BIKE HE WON THE FIRST RACE AT DAYTONA, ON THE BEACH IN 1937. IN 1948 HE PUT THE BIG BACE INDIAN RACING ENGINE IN THE BIKE AND ALSO CHROMED THE FRAME, AND PAINTED THE TANK AND FENDERS BLUE AND WHITE. THE BIKE STILL LOOK AND RUN’S GOOD TODAY

This picture was at De Anza Park, in Riverside Calif. 1946, # 38 Ed Kretz Sr. #7 Floyd Emde, behind Floyd is Jack Horn. Back in the early day’s Ed and others like Floyd didn’t wear gloves or a leather jacket. They just loved to race!

Ed Kretz Sr., when when he won the two hunderd mile race in Laconia in 1938, the race took 4 hours and 41 min. Ed was turning laps just as fast at the end of the race as he was at the start of the race. This is when he got the nick name as Ed “Iron Man” Krertz!
